Moscow, Russia: India and Russia are in discussions to introduce a group-free visa system, allowing Indian tourists to visit Russia without a visa when traveling in groups. The Moscow City Tourism Committee has confirmed that talks with India’s External Affairs Ministry are underway to finalize the specifics, with group sizes likely ranging from 10 to 20 travelers. This initiative aims to make travel to Russia more convenient for Indian visitors and is part of Russia's broader strategy to enhance international tourism, especially from India, which ranks second in foreign visitors to Russia.
In 2024, Moscow welcomed nearly 20 million tourists, including 61,000 from India. The city aims to attract 6 million tourists annually by 2030, driven by growing interest from regions like the Commonwealth of Independent States, Asia-Pacific, India, and the Middle East. Moscow's investments in tourism infrastructure, promotional campaigns, and an e-visa system are already showing positive results.
Additionally, Moscow is targeting specific tourism segments, including business, family, and film tourism. The city is in talks with Indian filmmakers to encourage shooting in Moscow, offering incentives to showcase the city on screen and strengthen cultural ties between the two nations.
