Man Who Fatally Shot Five People at Las Vegas-Area Apartments Barred from Owning Firearm

Eric Adams, prohibited from possessing firearms due to prior felony convictions, tragically took the lives of five individuals and injured a 13-year-old girl in a shooting at a Las Vegas apartment complex. He used a handgun during the attack, which raised questions about how he acquired the weapon despite legal restrictions.

The incident unfolded when Adams, visiting his ex-girlfriend, fatally shot her daughter and her girlfriend after an argument. He then killed a neighbouring man who intervened, followed by two more fatalities in an upstairs apartment. Adams subsequently took his ex-girlfriend hostage before fleeing and later died by suicide as police closed in.

Adams had a history of violent felony offences dating back to at least 1994, including battery and assaulting a police officer. The victims included Kayla Harris, a talented athlete pursuing a master's degree, whose loss has deeply impacted her community. The tragedy has sparked concerns about firearm access and the handling of domestic violence cases in Nevada.
