What Are Trumps Fat Pigs Comments Sparking Controversy Over?

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump faced backlash on Friday after encouraging his female supporters to motivate their husbands to vote for him during a rally in Detroit, Michigan. His comments, which included urging women to get their "fat" husbands off the couch, sparked criticism online.

Kamala Harris's campaign, through their 'Kamala HQ' account, shared a video of Trump's remarks on X, challenging his statements. In the footage, Trump addresses the women in the audience, urging them to physically motivate their husbands, referring to them as "fat pigs." He specifically told one woman, "Jill, get your fat husband off the couch. Get that fat pig off the couch. Get that guy the hell up. Slap him around, Jill, get him up."

Social media users condemned Trump's comments, with one describing them as "demeaning and awful." Another user questioned Trump's state of mind, suggesting he might be intoxicated, while others speculated that he seemed mentally unfit.

According to The Associated Press, Trump is currently trailing in national support among women. Previously, he urged women to choose him over Vice President Harris, asserting that it would enhance their safety.

Early voting in Detroit starts this weekend. Statewide voting will begin on October 26 and run until November 3.
