The North American Telugu Association (NATS) recently organized a Walk and Talk event in New Jersey aimed at raising awareness about breast cancer. October is recognized as Breast Cancer Awareness Month in the United States, serving as a time to increase knowledge and education regarding the disease. In alignment with this initiative, NATS arranged the event to inform the Telugu community about breast cancer.
The event was led by NATS Board Director Bindu Yalamanchili and Past Chairwoman Aruna Ganti. Local Telugu physicians Beula Vijaya Koduri and Charisma Bheemineni also took part, sharing their expertise. Given that one in eight women is currently diagnosed with breast cancer, the event effectively highlighted how to recognize the disease and the critical role of mammograms for women aged 40 and above.
The objective of the event was to eliminate any uncertainties women might have concerning cancer. NATS Executive Vice President Srihari Mandadi underscored the organization's dedication to offering various programs for the Telugu community in New Jersey. He stressed the importance of health and encouraged everyone to prioritize their well-being. Mandadi pointed out that ignoring health amid the busyness of daily life can lead to various health issues. He reiterated that this Walk and Talk event was organized to enhance breast cancer awareness within the Telugu community.
Former NATS Chairwoman Aruna Ganti, along with NATS Board Director Bindu Yalamanchili and the NATS New Jersey Women Empowerment Team—including Sridevi Jagarlamudi, Praneetha Pagidimarri, Prasoon Maddali, Sridevi Pulipaka, Indira Sriram, Swarna Gadiyaram, and Gayathri Chitteti—played significant roles in the event's success. Many volunteers from the NATS New Jersey leadership, such as Raj Allada, Murali Krishna Medicherla, Kiran Mandadi, Srinivas Ment, Prasad Teki, Venkatesh Koduri, Rakesh Veluru, Krishna Sagar Raparla, Harish Kommalapati, and Ramakrishna Bonu, also contributed to the event. NATS Board Chairman Prashant Pinnamaneni and President Madan Pamulapati congratulated the NATS New Jersey division for their efforts in organizing the Walk and Talk event to promote breast cancer awareness.
