Australia: Indian-origin doctor and entrepreneur Dr Amandeep Hansra has been honoured with the Australian Medical Association’s 2026 President’s Award, recognising her contribution to medicine, digital health and medical innovation.

The award was announced during the AMA26 National Conference Gala Dinner on August 29.

Dr Hansra continues to work as a doctor while pursuing a diverse career spanning general practice, digital health, telemedicine, health technology, entrepreneurship and angel investing.

The Australian Digital Health Agency congratulated Dr Hansra on the recognition in a Facebook post.

“Congratulations to our Chief Clinical Adviser (Medicine), Dr Amandeep H., on receiving the Australian Medical Association’s 2026 President’s Award,” the agency said.

The agency said the award recognised Dr Hansra’s contribution to medicine, including her leadership in digital health, medical innovation, doctors’ wellbeing and the care of vulnerable communities.

“We're very proud to see her contribution recognised,” it said.

Reflecting on her work, Dr Hansra said that although she continues to work as a “traditional” doctor, much of her professional work now focuses on digital health and the systems that influence healthcare delivery.

“Even though I still work as a ‘traditional’ doctor, a lot of my work now sits in digital health and working in the systems that shape what’s possible in a consult - long before anyone walks through the door,” Dr Hansra said.

Dr Hansra is also the founder of Creative Careers in Medicine (CCIM), a community that supports doctors and other health professionals exploring career opportunities beyond traditional medical practice.

She said she viewed the President’s Award as recognition not only of her individual work but also of the communities, patients and colleagues who have contributed to her professional journey.
