Memphis, Tennessee, USA: A 26-year-old woman from Tenali, Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh, tragically lost her life in a car accident in Memphis, Tennessee, USA, on Friday night. The victim, identified as Nagasri Vandana Parimala, was pursuing her master’s degree in data science at the University of Memphis.
The accident occurred when the car Vandana was traveling in collided with a truck near Rockwood Avenue in Memphis. Vandana succumbed to her injuries after being rushed to the hospital, while two of her friends, who were also in the car, sustained severe injuries. Reports suggest that one of the injured remains in critical condition. Local authorities in Tennessee have notified Vandana's family about the incident.
Vandana had moved to the United States in December 2022 to pursue her studies. Alongside her master’s program, she worked at the University of Memphis as a conference assistant, where she handled logistics, coordinated sessions, and generated important metric reports.
According to US media reports, Vandana had finished her work on Friday night and was driving with her two friends when their vehicle collided with a truck on National Street.
Minister Offers Condolences; Telugu Association Steps In
AP minister Nadendla Manohar reached out to Vandana’s parents, Ganesh and Ramadevi, to express his condolences and offer support during this difficult time.
Ganesh, a businessman in Tenali, stated that representatives from the Telugu Association of North America (TANA) are working to expedite the process of repatriating Vandana’s body for the final rites in Tenali.
Before moving to the US, Vandana had been employed as a source code professional at a Chennai-based firm from January 2021 to December 2022. She completed her bachelor’s degree in electronics and communication engineering in 2020 from a private college in her hometown.
