To address this crisis, President Joe Biden has signed a new law aimed at curbing the violence. In addition, he approved a stopgap bill to ensure that economic activities are not disrupted due to the upcoming elections. This bill, according to *The Guardian*, secures government funding until December 20. Biden signed the legislation as he prepares to step down from the presidency in two months.

"Gun deaths in the US have surpassed those from diseases and accidents among children. It's heartbreaking. Vice President Kamala Harris and I are committed to ending this violence, and we urge you to join us," Biden stated on X. He also announced an executive order aimed at reducing gun violence.

Gun violence in the US remains a critical issue, with an increasing number of shootings, particularly in schools and universities. Research by the American Academy of Pediatrics shows that in 2020, 4,368 children were killed by gunfire, up from 3,390 in 2019. In 2021, that number rose to 4,752. Since 2020, gun violence has been the leading cause of child deaths in the country.

Recently, a school shooting in Georgia resulted in four fatalities and nine injuries. In 2007, a tragic shooting at Virginia Tech claimed over 30 lives. Over the past two decades, hundreds of shootings have occurred in educational institutions, sparking heated debates about US gun laws and the Second Amendment, which guarantees the right to bear arms.
