Bidens New Rule Protecting LGBTQ Plus Students

A federal judge in Kansas, U.S. District Judge John Broomes, has halted the enforcement of a new federal rule intended to expand anti-discrimination protections for LGBTQ+ students in four states—Alaska, Kansas, Utah, and Wyoming—and various other locations nationwide, including a middle school in Stillwater, Oklahoma, and members of three Republican-supporting organizations. This is the third ruling against the rule in less than three weeks and the most extensive. The Biden administration's rule, set to take effect in August under Title IX, aims to prevent sex discrimination in education but is argued by Republicans to allow transgender females in girls' sports, which is banned in many states. The ruling, blocking the rule's enforcement, will remain until the Kansas lawsuit is resolved. The Department of Education has not yet commented.
