Indian-American Entrepreneurs Jay and Jyoti Chaudhry Donate 4M USD for First-Gen Students at UC

India, America: Indian-American tech entrepreneur and Zscaler CEO Jay Chaudhry, along with his wife Jyoti, has pledged $4 million to the University of Cincinnati (UC). The donation will establish the Chaudhry Family Scholarship Fund, supporting first-generation, Pell-eligible students in UC’s Gen-1 1MPACT House. Starting in the fall of 2025, scholarships will aid 150 students by covering financial gaps after federal grants.

UC President Neville G. Pinto called the gift transformative, while Jay and Jyoti expressed gratitude for the scholarships they received during their graduate studies at UC. "This fund is our way of giving back and helping students complete their education," the couple said.

The Gen-1 Program, launched in 2008, provides academic and personal support for first-gen students, achieving a 98% retention rate—far above the national average.
