California, USA: California Governor Gavin Newsom has recently appointed 11 new judges to Superior Courts across various counties, with Indian American Mehtab Sandhu being one of the notable appointees. Sandhu will take on the role of a judge in the Orange County Superior Court, succeeding Judge Steven Bromberg, who retired.

The announcement, made on December 13, also includes appointments to the Superior Courts in Fresno County, Kern County, Los Angeles County, Orange County, San Bernardino County, San Diego County, and an interim appointment in Santa Clara County.

Mehtab Sandhu brings a wealth of experience to his new position. Before his appointment, he served as Assistant City Attorney at the City of Anaheim City Attorney’s Office since 2022. Sandhu also held the role of Deputy City Attorney – Community Prosecutor in Anaheim from 2021 to 2022 and worked as a Deputy District Attorney at the San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Office from 2012 to 2021. He started his legal career as an Associate at Bernstein, Litowitz, Berger & Grossman in 2012. Sandhu earned his Juris Doctor degree from the University of San Diego School of Law and is affiliated with the Democratic Party.

The other individuals appointed include María G. Díaz (Fresno County), Keenan Perkins (Kern County), Jeffery McFarland, Safaan K. Ahmed, and Michael Cavalluzzi (Los Angeles County), Amber Poston (Orange County), Christopher Hayes (San Bernardino County), Lizbet Muñoz and Roy Lai (San Diego County), and Johnene Stebbins (interim appointment in Santa Clara County).

Each of the newly appointed judges will earn a salary of $244,727, reflecting the importance and responsibility associated with their positions within California’s judicial system.
