Indian Diaspora Supports South Africas Bid to Host the 2036 Olympics, Paving the Way for Africas First Olympic Games

South Africa is bidding to host the 2036 Olympic Games, aiming to become the first African nation to do so. Currently, Africa is the only continent that has yet to host the Olympics. The South African Olympic Committee, led by Sports Minister Gayton McKenzie, has received support from the Indian Diaspora, including IOC members Anant Singh and Sam Ramsamy.

This bid joins others from Chile, Egypt, India, Mexico, Qatar, and Turkiye, all competing to host the Games in 2036. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has welcomed South Africa's proposal, emphasizing its potential to unite the continent and inspire African athletes.

With a new venue selection model focused on sustainability and regional needs, the IOC is considering bids from multiple continents. South Africa's bid represents a historic opportunity for the continent and could pave the way for future Olympic Games in underserved regions.
