New Jersey Celebrates Guru Nanaks 555th Birth Anniversary with Vibrant Performances and Sikh Cultural Tribute

New Jersey, USA: The 555th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev was celebrated on November 9 at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC), organized by the nonprofit Let's Share a Meal.

The event, titled "Oneness: A Light for Humanity," drew over 2,800 attendees and focused on Guru Nanak's message of unity, equality, and service to humanity.

It featured speeches from notable figures such as Sant Singh Chatwal and Michelin-starred chef Vikas Khanna, alongside powerful performances celebrating Sikh culture, including music by Bhai Satvinder Singh and live art by Vilas Nayak.

The event raised approximately $750,000, with proceeds benefiting Let's Share a Meal's ongoing food drives. The organization, dedicated to feeding the homeless and underserved communities, embodies the Langar tradition, introduced by Guru Nanak, of providing free meals to all.

Speakers emphasized Guru Nanak’s teachings of equality and service, with highlights on the core Sikh values of seva (selfless service) and vand chakna (sharing with others).
