Ottawa, Canada: In a heart-wrenching turn of events, an NRI residing in Canada was brutally murdered in Ahmedabad by a couple he trusted. The elderly man, Kanaiyalal Bhavsar, 75, opened his door to individuals he thought he could rely on, only to fall victim to their greed and betrayal.

Bhavsar was found strangled in his Gujarat home, and his valuables worth ₹3.7 lakh were stolen. A post-mortem confirmed that it was a murder, prompting Ahmedabad police to launch an investigation into the tragic incident.

The police quickly apprehended Anand Prakash Thakor, 29, and Heena Akbar Ali Shaikh, 34, a married couple from Mumbai. Their involvement in the brutal crime was revealed when it was discovered that Heena had earned Bhavsar's trust while working at a local spa. Over time, she hatched a plan to rob him with the help of her husband.

Bhavsar frequently visited his home in Vastrapur during his trips from Canada. On one occasion, Heena unlocked the door for her husband, but when Bhavsar confronted them, they panicked and strangled him.

The couple's plan unraveled when they were caught attempting to sell the stolen items. Anand, an auto driver, was identified through CCTV footage from his vehicle.

Their attempted escape to Mumbai was thwarted, and they now face serious legal consequences for their heinous actions.
