Neesha Hathi joins Columbia University Wealth Management programme advisory council

New York, USA: Indian American finance executive Neesha Hathi, managing director and head of wealth advisory, banking and trust services at Charles Schwab, has joined the advisory council of Columbia University’s master’s programme in Wealth Management.

The programme, offered by Columbia University’s School of Professional Studies, is an accelerated degree designed for experienced professionals in the wealth management sector.

Welcoming Hathi to the advisory council, the university said her leadership, innovation and client-focused approach would contribute valuable industry perspectives to the programme. Columbia also said her experience would help in the continued development of the curriculum to reflect the future of wealth management.

Hathi said she was honoured to contribute to the programme alongside the other council members. She said that as the wealth management industry continues to evolve, preparing the next generation of leaders has become increasingly important.

Hathi currently leads Schwab’s wealth advisory, banking and trust services organisation, which was created earlier this year by bringing together the company’s wealth, banking and trust capabilities to address the changing needs of individual investors and registered independent advisor clients.

She has spent more than 20 years at Charles Schwab and has held several senior leadership positions across its retail and institutional businesses. Before her current role, Hathi led Schwab’s wealth and advice solutions enterprise and served as the company’s Chief Digital Officer, overseeing its digital platforms, innovation, data and analytics teams.

Before joining Schwab, she held leadership positions in strategy, marketing and finance at several technology startups. She began her career in investment banking.

Hathi holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Michigan and an MBA from UCLA. Her parents moved to the United States from India, and she has previously spoken about their work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit as sources of inspiration.
