Washington, D.C., USA: The Asian Pacific American Institute for Congressional Studies (APAICS) has announced its 2026 Technology Summit, with U.S. Rep. Ro Khanna serving as an honorary co-chair of the two-day virtual event.
Khanna will co-chair the summit alongside Rep. Ted Lieu, the Democratic Caucus vice chair. The event comes as policymakers continue to examine the opportunities and challenges associated with artificial intelligence, digital innovation and the rapidly changing technology-driven economy.
The summit, scheduled for September 29 and 30, will bring together technology and community leaders, policy experts and elected officials from the Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander communities to discuss emerging technologies and their broader economic and social impact.
The event will feature bipartisan policy discussions focused on issues affecting the Asian American and Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander communities, as well as the broader U.S. population.
Sessions will examine the future of work, including artificial intelligence, the creator economy and independent app-based employment. Discussions will also focus on workforce development and digital skills training as technology continues to reshape the labor market.
Another panel will examine the rapid expansion of artificial intelligence and data centers, including their energy consumption, environmental sustainability and potential effects on local communities.
Financial technology will also be discussed, with sessions covering access to credit, homeownership and the potential role of AI and digital lending tools in improving financial security and supporting generational wealth.
The summit will further address next-generation broadband, spectrum policy and 5G and 6G connectivity, with particular attention to underserved communities.
A separate discussion will focus on intellectual property protections and efforts to combat counterfeiting and infringement in e-commerce while supporting entrepreneurs and small businesses.
Featured congressional speakers include Sen. Andy Kim of New Jersey and Reps. Ed Case of Hawaii, Marilyn Strickland of Washington, Suhas Subramanyam of Virginia and Young Kim of California.
The virtual summit will be held from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on both September 29 and September 30.
