San Antonio, Texas, USA: Indian American academic Dr. Vinod K. Aggarwal has been appointed Chief Economist at global business consulting firm Frost & Sullivan. In his new role, he will lead the company's worldwide initiatives focused on industrial policy, economic statecraft, geopolitical strategy and global competitiveness.
According to the company, Dr. Aggarwal has worked closely with Frost & Sullivan for more than two decades in various advisory and leadership capacities. His appointment reflects the firm's continued emphasis on helping organizations navigate the growing intersection of business strategy, public policy and global economic change.
Krishna Srinivasan, Executive Board Member and Global Managing Partner at Frost & Sullivan, said Dr. Aggarwal's extensive academic background and expertise in geoeconomics will strengthen the company's ability to provide strategic insights to clients operating in an increasingly complex global environment.
As Chief Economist, Dr. Aggarwal will guide initiatives designed to help governments, corporations and investors respond to evolving industrial policies, geopolitical developments and non-market strategies. His work will focus on how technological transformation and geopolitical shifts are reshaping international competitiveness and long-term business strategy.
Dr. Aggarwal is a Distinguished Professor and Alann P. Bedford Chair in Political Science at the University of California, Berkeley. He is also affiliated with the Haas School of Business, serves as Director of the Berkeley APEC Study Center and is a Fellow at Berkeley Law School's Public Law and Policy Center.
A lifetime member of the Council on Foreign Relations, Dr. Aggarwal has advised governments and private-sector organizations worldwide. He has authored or edited more than 20 books, including The Oxford Handbook of Geoeconomics and Economic Statecraft (2025) and Governing Growth: Industrial Policy from Hamilton to Trump (2026).
